yLike Paul said it is very good to keep records to compare and also to make sure everyone is growing at same rate (not necessarily same size). Let's say one gained 6 ounces and another only gained 2 ounces in a set period of time...you now know which one has to go to the best flowing one or maybe look a lil further to see if something may be wrong. a cheap produce scale should do the trick if you dont have one. A baby cam kept me and the wife from coming to "the rescue" every couple of hours while we slept. hear a noise, count the pups on the screen, all there? good, back to sleep, lol.

    That makes sense...

I just got a postage scale and will be getting weights this evening. I have no baby cam though! I am sleeping right next to them, she doesn't appreciate Glen (she never did like men, she likes Glen and won't bite him, but I sense that with pups she is a little more on edge so I am with pups and he is safe in our own room) Doesn't make for the best sleep in the world, but better safe than sorry.

I am counting pups as well, just a little closer! Thanks again....

    Bonnie,

Congratulations! We have had the whelping box next to our bed for our two litters also for the first weeks http://www.delalunakennel.com/available/ This link shows our set up! Every snuffle and squeek cause us to wake also, I actually sleep with my head at the foot of the bed so I can open my eyes and see them (how silly is that!) Our girls are more infatuated with my husband than 'Mrs. Disiplinary Me', the boys are reverse and I'm the goddess. Best wishes for everything going well with you all.

    Best,

    Thanks Diana

Yes, I have heard a lot of good things about you and your dogs. Love the whelping box, I think you wrote somewhere that your husband made it for you, it is a great set up.

Yes, I am the 'Mrs Discipline' in our house as well. Nina is the only one who doesn't trust men, I got her at 4 months and she came either hard wired for it, or had an incident at some point. She likes him a lot, but is a bit wary and I just felt that with pups and it being her first litter I would just make sure. It was just the first few days, she is much better now.

(I think I will see if Glen feels like building a whelping box! What fun!)

    Thank you!
