Zalamero's first litter, eleven pups...question for breeders

She has eleven pups, the males seem to be growing faster. Is this normal? She whelped fine, pups are nice and quiet after feeding, she is a good mom and let's us (me and the kids) handle the pups. Do male pups get bigger faster? They were all born the same conform size and shape.

    Thanks!

Beautiful litter. Look at the mug on the guy on the bottom pic, puts a smile on my face.

Thank you very much I love that pup, I call him meat ball, he is one of her "fat boys!" She won't let me remove any of the fat boys without following me, I guess they are her favorite as well. And when I put them back with her, she counts them. Once they are all there, she quits looking. Smart dog...it makes me happy.

No. Males dont get bigger faster than females at that age..on both my litters the biggest happened to be a female at very early puppy stages. it really all has to do with which ones are getting the teets with the best flow of milk.. you will notice how they jockey for the good ones and the smaller pups always end up on the same ones...take the bigger pups out of the way and switch in the smaller pups to make sure they all get equal shares.

Wow great looking pups? are they pure black or they have some stripes? Its great that the mother takes such good care of the pups. I dont plan on breeding my male but i am dying to watch a puppy grow from day one. Are you going to keep any of them?

    Thanks

I was switching them out, but wasn't making sure they got the best flow of milk teat.

    Thank you Juan...

Thank you! I am thinking of keeping a fawn female...but that black male has my eye. I can't tell yet if he will be a black brindle, I see the stripes as well and they don't all have them. This is my first litter so not sure when the color comes in to tell if he is a black brindle. I fed her mainly a raw diet, lots and lots of eggs, cow liver, cow heart, many bones, beef and some goat. I am really happy with the results. They look so much better when fed raw. She recovered really quickly, back to herself about the second day and the pups all had her same shiny coat. I like that diet!

AAAWWWWW, they are bundles of joy. Nice pups for sure. If you plan on breeding in the future it is good to keep a written record of these pups and then you can compare that to the next litter. They do need lots of attention at this age. Enjoy Enjoy Enjoy Hope they all end up healthy and happy. Thanks for sharing. Puppies tend to brighten my day.

Yes, we are using our extra goats record keeping book, perfect layout with notes ...I haven't slept much. Every peep or squeak wakes me up, but it is very much all worthwhile. Several years preparation and it is finally here!

    Thank you!

    7 days old now...

Growing like crazy, I can't believe how fast they get big. Puppy breath almost here!
