Yep, your puppy has that Fila Fire. Be careful and realize this is a serious dog you have. Life can be good and safe with one of these dogs around. Your dog is acting normal to most of us and that is good IMO. Putting one of these dogs into a safe room is part of life with most Fila owners that have company over. I have had good luck with baby gates and if the dog respects the gate you can still have a dog able to help you in an emergency. These dogs live to make sure you are ok at all times and they do that with all the force they can muster. What you describe so far with your pup put a smile on my face. They are precious and watching them mature is amazing.

Yeah we definitely mistook it as fear at first. We figured oh well she hasn't been socialized yet so we decided to work on it. But right now she is still in the avoidance stage she will back away or avoid them. Seems to lunge when she is on the leash. Maybe she feels she has no way to avoid it at that point. She does ok in the house as long as the people dont force the issue with her. if they pretend like she isnt there and go about there business she is ok. She has been super easy to train so far took right to the leash house trained in a few days. And walks without a leash very well. Sticks right with us or the kids and recalls every time. As far as dogs go she is great.

Hey allsierra, really cute pup you got there. I am glad to hear that she seems to have proper temp. as far as socialization goes try to take her to as many places to experience new things as much as possible now because as she gets older it will be very hard to do around folks. For real in depth training tips or for serious issues I suggest you go to Robert on this site and I know that Dianne does ALOT of obedience training with her dogs. You sound to be doing fairly well on your own so far so just keep on doing what your doing and be careful with those kids cause you never know when she will decide that she has the confidence or the reason to go after one of them (im assuming all the kids arent yours). good luck and dont be afraid to post.

Two of them are the rest don't visit often.but we have a good sized fenced yard with a separate kennel outside to put her in when the time comes.we are watching her carefully even with our own kids.I was raised around American childhoo bifi bulldogs. My dad raised and hunted them. I can do ok with basic training.just want to be fully prepared for what of to come.

Allsierra, Sounds like you are somewhat experienced with working dogs and taking the necessary precautions. Enjoy your pup and keep us posted on this girl.

Hey allsierra gorgeous lil pup. Just one question... you mentioned that you had a good size fence... What do you consider a good size fence? by my experience anything under 6ft high isnt high enough. Hmm... its really good that you came into a forum to be prepared for a fila companion, it shows that you are conscious that a fila isnt like any other breed. Just yesterday i was speaking to a friend of mine that breeds GSD and he kept arguing me that if you socialize your fila well he wont take ont he ojeriza temp. Well that may help and the fila not being a launching maniac but it wont change his insticts. i have a bakery and a small food maket. so what i did was leave my 3 month old fila lose in there since he was 45 days old. This morning was the first time that i had to hold my puppy from biting a woman, lol and to think i was worried about his temp. Sorry i wrote so much... good luck with your pup.

Its a 6 foot privacy fence on top of a 12" curb So I have a total of 7' feet. Its very sturdy 6x6 posts every 8 feet. And there sunk in the concrete. The people we bought the house from had two bull mastiffs. They wanted it tall enough they couldnt go over and the concrete footer so they wouldnt dig under.

Hello Allsierra and welcome to the group. Your pup is a real cutie pie. It's a joy watching them grow and go through their puppy antics. Nice fence setup, that's exactly what I have in mind for our property when the weather breaks. Btw, that was a large breeding, did you notice the Fila temperament in most of the litter?

No actually the rest seemed like normal EM puppies very friendly happy go lucky lick you to death. What drew me to her was the way she approached me She kind of watched from across the room then circled me for a while. I wasnt looking for the fila temp when I picked her she just reminded me of an american bulldog I had as a teenager. And he was the best dog I had ever had. He was very serious and completely devoted to his family. She seemed mellow and down to business. I guess I am inadvertently drawn to the fila personality. But she seemed to be the black she. She was also the 3rd one born and the second largest in the litter. Those dont really mean a lot but just FYI. And the fence setup is super nice It was the One of the main reasons I like the house. That and the yard is rather large but the previous owners did concrete a lot of it for rv's and vehicles they parked back there.
