The first written standard of the breed was edited in 1946. The [[Paulistas]] were responsible for organization a planned breeding program, opening a stud book to register dogs. About the registries, CBKC (Brazilian Confederation Kennel Club) follows the FCI (Federation Cynologique Internationale) policy and accepts for registration only dogs with FCI pedigrees, orientating the breeders to make a hip dysplasia control and besides other health problems. The Fila Brasileiro is described as a Brazilian Mastiff or a Brazilian Molosser. In the U.S., there are two specialty Fila Clubs and both follow the CBKC/FCI Standard, which is the original and legitimate standard of the breed recognized all over the world. In the U.S., the OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) does a statistical registry of all Filas that were x-rayed to diagnose Hip Dysplasia.

wiki is a joke and anyone who gets their info from there and believes it can be accurate is a lunatic. the definition that was put there is a joke and should have been treated as such. you want a link to the Official standard of the Fila Brasileiro? Here ya go: http://www.cafibbrasil.com.br/
this is how it is done, no fancy website just pure facts.

While I'm not at all surprised by this, even I have to admit its quite tacky and very dishonest.. You could have at least made mention that the edits you were making were based on the standard as recognized by CAFIB. To the best of my knowledge FCI has yet adopt the standard you use as the official one for the Fila.. Presenting the opposite view is one thing totally changing it to support your philosophy is another..
It's a matter of credibilty and when a peron or persons start presenting only one side of a story as the only true fact(s) the credibilty meter starts slipping closer to zero. WHile I agree with some things CAFIB is attempting to do or change as long as you or anyone else continue to use the tatics you do I'll never join or align with this organization..
I've been in the breed for a very long time and know many people that have been around even longer and I doubt that anybody has ever seen things sink to this level of behavior not even Drew.
I'm curious though What 2 clubs in the US follow the CAFIB standard? I know of the newest one but when did the second one pop up and what is called and where is it located??
Can't say this enough: Say not always what you know, but always know what you say. ? Claudius

Personal note: While Wikipedia is a good jumping off point for many things, its basic flaw is that any idiot with a keyboard and an internet connection can make changes to the page.. Its an honor system where they believe posters will make changes of benefit to information contained there. Sadly they have no way to ferret out those with less than honorable intentions..
-
here ya go. now it is official
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fila_Brasileiro
Rob, I agree... any idot w/ a keyboard can put anything up on wiki...and this time an honest person, full of honor finally put up the official standard. Take a look it finally looks good.

BTW this isnt rewriting history this is the only history!

One question remains: What 2 clubs in the US follow the CAFIB standard??
New Question: When did the CAFIB standard become the Official Standard of the Fila? The way you worded it people will think that that is the official standard (period). Regardless of how you feel or think there are STILL 2 standards out there and only one is recognized by FCI and it ain't yours(CAFIB)..
A better and clearer wording would be the Official CAFIB standard for the FB or the standard as follwed by CAFIB.. See no deception there as opposed to: Official standard of the Fila Brasileiro, CAFIB .
As to it looking good the Appearence and Disqualification Sections is one giant run on paragraph so it look like a pile of cow manure to me.. Score 0 for appearence, readabilty and presentation.
Also I see you edited the Legal Status section as well.. You left out quite a few places where the Fila is banned including parts of the US.. So Score 1 for accuracy
As for an honest and honorable person editing the page Also Score 0 As long as 2 standards exist then both standards should be presented.. Had you chosen to create a Wikipedia Page for the Standard as Accepted by CAFIB I wouldn't have written a single word today..
If a person wants to follow your way that is their right and priviledge and I've never denigrated any one for having or sharing that belief. Me I don't give a Ricky Rats Ass one way or the other, it's common knowledge I'm not part of the sheep herd when it comes to Filas..
To steal a line from a movie: "This place is Looney Tunes".
And last: If yours was the only history then there would be no discussions or debates on the subject like there has been for decades.. So wrong yet again John
But keep on doing what you're doing.. In the words of Dr Suess I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells.
Robert
