Ok guys, things have gotten worst, he pooped about half a liter of blood, just pure blood, it smelled so bad that it made my wife pass out, i just dont know what to do, i drove for over two hours during the night trying to find a vet available and i couldnt, so i called a vet from a very distant city and she told me to give him sulfametoxazol + trimetoprima (portuguese), until i see a vet. At this moment i am taking my vet to the vet. thx for all the support, i didnt get any sleep during the night, and my wife is crying like i have never seen before. We dont have kids, so Apollo is more than just a dog to us.

I am very sorry to hear this. Apollo is your kid and give him all the love you can and try hard to help him. This could be a swollowed object, poison, parvo. We just don't know but the fact is Apollo is going down hill fast. Take care my friend. Your dog and your wife need you right now. I can tell you love him and this is very sad. Be strong for your dog and your wife.

Sorry you are going through this ordeal, it is not nice, 2 years ago we had a mutated form of parvo in our area that was attacking all dogs, vaccinated or not, young or old, 17 dogs died in our region. Now that apollo is at the vets he has a fighting chance with meds and fluids on board. When he does start to eat simple easy meals on his belly is ground beef and rice, very easy for them to digest and they get protein and carbs and also because he will have had pretty strong course of antibiotics, feeding a few spoonfulls of plain yogurt will help restore the good bacteria in the gut.

He will be home before you know it, keep us updated.

Thanks carrie, i wish my city had more competent veterinarians. None of them here seemed to care much, i had to make a 4 hour drive to a real vet which cared for him. Because of the lack of help, we wasted 3 days in which he could of been treated better. Its heart breaking seeing our huge baby fallen down without strengths to move. but i think he will make it, i could see it in his eyes that he still had fight in him, it was as if he said to me i just need some sleep and i will get better dont worry. Carrie, i will follow your advises i highly appreciate them. My wife is devastated, before our fila we had a GSD and a ABPT mix, the GSD got stolen and someone poisoned out ABPT mix and she died. So my wife keeps saying if Apollo dies she doesn't want another dog, but he wont die.

Ok, i just went to the vet to see Apollo and his progress, i will admit that he is not out of danger yet, tomorrow will be the day that we can determine his real chances. The vet said he is much better, now he actually moves around a little bit and before he didnt even have the energy to bite the vet, now he actually growls and attempts to bite him, in a way that made me feel much better. HAHA, as i am writing this reply, the vet called me asking me to got here first thing in the morning because the Apollo managed to remove his muzzle, smart boy he is... hehehe. well tomorrow i will update everyone on his health, thx for the support that everyone has shown.

    Hi Dario,

I peeked in and out of the forum yesterday reading your updates ...hoping and praying for Apollo and your family. I hope that he is on his way to a full recovery. I must say that I felt like a proud mommy when your vet said he needed you to come back and put Apollo's muzzle back on because he managed to get it off. I thought, yeah, he's getting better.

I have a soft spot in my heart for animals, babies/children, individuals who are mentally disabled, and the elderly. With all that is going on here in PA with the Penn State scandal, I am absolutely outraged. It is always on whatever media outlet I choose. My heart goes out to those children who are scarred for life and their families. Yes, they will receive some sort of monetary settlement, but who the hell cares. Their innocence and their childhood has been stolen and they can't get that back...no amount of money will get those things back. I'm sorry to go off topic, but this really bothers me. I don't know any of the victims or their families, but I feel like their family.

Parvovirose, You see juan, i live in a smaller city and vets here are a piece of garbage. Here exists two types of vaccines the national and the imported but the problem is that i wasnt informed about that, the vet who gave all the shots gave us the nationals. To treat Apollo we went to another city far away, the vet there told me that giving the national vaccine is the same as not giving any. He had no anti bodies if thats what its called or no immune against the parvovirose, so that is why Apollo is having such a hard time getting better.
