Carrie,
I'm sorry for your loss. It is hard enough to lose one, I can only imagine what it would be like to lose two.
On a happier note your new pup is gorgeous and sounds like it is fitting in just perfectly.

Yes it is very hard to make the decision to put to sleep for one but 2, i had to take both in to have put to sleep, very very hard. My coonhound was 11 and became paralyzed one morning which was very unexpected, its very hard to make a choice to put to sleep when your best friend is still bright eyed and full of life but her bleeding dissorder came back and with the meds she had to have made her blood very thin and would not clot, that was very hard on me and my vet as she saved her life 4 years ago and then she had to take her life, very tearfull day for alot of people, i was and still am lost without her. Then shortly after that my hubbys 16 year old pit bull started having seizures and going downhill fast, so we thought it best to let her go, so hubby was very upset and could not take her in so I had to take her in as well to say goodbye. So yes it is very hard, i still think about them all the time and talk about silence in the house, going from a 3 dog household to 1 dog in 2 weeks, very quiet. So we decided that getting a new pup would be the best for us all around, it was the right choice for us.
Our young fila we have is not to sure about the young one but she is warming up to him, he seems very mature for his 4 months, i have never had an early starter as far as temp goes, hes very mellow and was protecting us from our sons french bulldog, he wouldnt let him come close to us, he kept herding him away from us, to funny. I slept with him in the living room and the next morning hubby came in and he started growling at him and hes very reserved and polite with us, we are very happy with him.

Carrie, sorry to hear of your hard losses. The pup looks good. good luck with him. If you dont mind me asking, who is the breeder in Canada? I always have people asking me and I just dont know of any. Thanks.

There are a few people up here that have litters, i wouldn't call them breeders by any means. The lady i found is also not a breeder but she does have the odd litter, she does alot of showing with her dogs. You can always give them my email and i can maybe point them in the right direction, lots of years in this breed. It took me 3 months of searching up here to find what i was looking for as i did not want to ship from the states again, it cost me almost as much for shipping as it did for the dog, this time it cost less and less travel time for the pup.

Hi Carrie, my heart goes out to you for your loss. Take pride in knowing that they loved you and your hubby and you gave them a great home. I see you have a beautiful brindle pup...absolutely gorgeous. No, he can't the place of the others as we all have our own personalities and quirks; that's what makes us unique. But he will ease the burden of your loss. He looks quite happy.
Good Luck,
deidei
