    !!!!!!Juan!!!!!

Congratulations I hope everything went smoothly. Keep us updated weekly ESPECIALLY WITH PICTURES! They all look similar in size, did you weigh them? How long between each pup? Anything that can help to learn from?

Such nice looking puppies. How much are you asking for them? I haven't seen a lot of Filas, but I've seen a few at my local pet store. Some of the Filas I've seen were nice and others were crazy. I am looking for a dog with a stable temperament. Are your dogs good with kids, family members, and other dogs? What is their temperament like?

    Thanks

    Candace,
I would like to know what part of the country or what pet store you saw Fila pups, Please? Also, what is the difference between the pups that acted nice and the ones that acted crazy? Why did you choose the Fila?
Fila are very good with "Their" kids. That is the kids that dog actually lives with. Friends of those kids are strangers and Ojero applies.
A true Fila has a very stable temperament. That same temperament if applied to 99.99% of all other breeds would Not be considered stable. Just the opposite a Fila temperament in a lab would cause that lab to be put down as a vicious dog.
Fila live to protect the immediate family and the homestead. Fila are a liability. Fila will not just bark but they will bite. Fila don't bite like other breeds. Fila take it to the extreme. Fila owners know this and living with a Fila requires a certain kind of lifestyle. Fila don't fit into your lifestyle. Fila are Fila and if you are responsible enough you can live with a dog that is like no other.
I have seen some Fila that do not have the true Fila temperament. Maybe one of those would work for the average family. A real Fila takes a very responsible owner or you might end up in BIG trouble.
I don't mean to scare you but when we read descriptions of dogs and they say "aversion to strangers." That is a common way to describe Fila but that aversion to strangers is extreme. A stranger does not have to threaten you. A stranger that gets to close is going to get all that dog has and then some. You can't just hand over a Fila to the vet tech to have some blood taken. You have to physically and mentally control the dog for such things and if you mess up people get hurt. Again I am not trying to scare you away from the Fila I just want you to understand these dogs are not like any other breed.
Hope this helps a bit and if you would, Please, give us some info on the Fila pups in the pet stores. I was unaware of Fila pups in pet stores. This surprises me a bit.

oh no...Filas in a pet shop??? bad news for this breed. I actually consider the "filas" that allow strangers to touch them unstable...this is completely against proper Fila Temperament.

There were no Filas for sale in the pet store, the Filas were those that owners had brought in for dog training classes. During the dog training class, I reached out and pet one of the Filas, and the dog was very sweet. After the class, I spoke to another Fila owner in the class and her dog was also very friendly. There was a lady with two Filas in the class who would not stop barking/growling, so I did not pet them. The Fila that I pet was a solid black female, and she was extremely smart. I watched her do all sorts of things in that training class. The other one was a fawn female, and she was also friendly, but wasn't as smart and couldn't do half as many things as the other one. The two dogs that were aggressive were also Fawn, but I was afraid to go up and talk to the owner of them because I didn't want to get bitten.

lol, the fila that you pet was not a fila at all but a mixed bred dog that was sold for a quick buck with a fila pedigree...the ones that were barking showed true temperament...the fila might not be right for you. you were right not to pet them...they probably would have bitten and that is the correct fila not the one that let you touch him....poor, poor example.

Candance...when i got my fila puppy... it didnt just come running and starting licking me... it actually hid away... and it growled a bit. the trip back home took a few hrs and thats when i gave him some treats (dont feed a dog in a car thats never ridden one). well took a full day for him to warm up to me and my wife. all i know is even a 45 day old fila wouldnt act like a any other puppy.
