Great Weekend with Gus...

Went to an Army reunion with Gus this weekend, and there was a pistol shoot going on. Gus wasnt scared at all when the lead went down range. He did great! I am a proud poppa!

Good boy, Gus. How is your training going with him? Do you still think ya'll can do SAR?

Actually we start the second session this weekend (8 weeks). He did great on the first iteration and loves the training. total slack on the leash when walking and really really focused totally on us instead of everything going on around him.

I would love for him to pick up tracking after the next session, and if he takes to it we will definitely be volunteering.

Here are two pics of Gus from this weekend. The one of him laying down is a weird angle and the delaps are rolled up and make him look fat at the neck, but the other shows that isn't the case. His coloring is why I put that one in here, he has some really nice lines that get darker and darker as he gets older. He's about 70-75lbs now (5mos)

john if you go to photobucket you can set an account and then upload your pics to your own album .....then you can click on the direct link tab and then after clicking the "insert image" on the comment window just choose "paste" and your picture will then display

John, who are you using to train Gus? Have you talked to any SAR groups? I have a friend that is very involved with a couple of groups and it just so happens they are having a fundraiser the weekend of the June 17th in Point Comfort, which I would think is not very far from you. They will have some of their dogs out for meet and greet, good BBQ, raffle, auctions....If you would like more info I will be more than happy to get it for you.
