all those are great venues...lest not forget the CAFIB shows that are now happening once ayear in the United States. In the CAFIB shows you can actually get an evaluation on your fila and if it passes you can actually participate in the show.
I would hope for all Fila owners to try going to a show, IABCA/RARITIES/ARBA. Even first timers will find a helpful, kind environment. The dogs love it, it is great to meet other breed owners, and we can educate judges and the public by presentation of the breed. Savage was in two shows: Group II win, and Best of Show Rare Breed. Astarte was in one show: Group I win, Best of Show Reserve Rare Breed, Group I Breed By, Best of Show Reserve Breed By! We had Fila friends there who were GREAT to sit with and chat. Burke & Linda are the best

Brasileirokid,
I forgot to add FBA also. I'd go to whatever show was available and reachable. The only way we can educate here in the states is to get out and do it, it won't happen by osmosis.

lol, osmosis, lol. 100% correct! congrats on your wins.
LOL - yea - I wish it was as easy as osmosis :-)
I showed my last filas extensively for about 5 years with CKC ( Canine Kennel Club (basically in Florida only) , IABCA, ARBA and Rarities ( which was my favorite group) . I think it is fun to show - and I loved the personal time on the road with my dogs ( and my best friend and her filas too ) - but I did see that most judges do not know anything about the breed LOL. If I had more time ( and more money LOL) I would be showing for sure - but more likely the patterdales and not the fila - since there is no competition to speak of coming to the shows in Florida. Patterdales are UKC and they have alot of shows rather local to me also. I did champion my male patt early on - but having my son kinda stopped my dog show time for a few years - now that he is getting older I am able to get back into a hobby.
I am already looking forward to the next CAFIB show to see my friends and talk fila all weekend LOL

I have never been to a dog show, but it sounds like fun! Congratulations to De La Luna Kennel on all of their dogs' wins at the show.
