I have seen some that are dog aggressive but that is not the way they are suppose to be. some bloodlines show that more than others but a DA fila can be born from any bloodlines. I know what you mean about the leash thing though as sometimes a dog acts very agressive on leash and is a puppy when off leash...you have to know your own dog as you dont want anyone elses dog getting hurt but seein as he is so young I would take a lil risk with another dog about 1 yr or younger with about the same size. just to see but be careful and guage their responses...if you dont feel you can do this then ask for a professional to come in and help. BTW where did you get your dog from?

first dog fighting is still illegal in the US period ,just because you think your dog is tuff doesnt make it tuff.I see more bad handlers than bad dogs.if you dont have control over your dog it becomes a liability.there is no comparison between a shutzhund dog and a fila, apples and oranges thats all it is .What idiot would match a 1500 dollar dog against a 5,000 dollar dog.Heres something to compare,my fila can never be off the leash,he will most definatley bite you if you invade his territory, about 50 feet and would probally bite all the little trick or treaters in his way,my shutzhund bouvier"s
running right past all the kids and after the guy demonstrating agitator movement from about the distance of a football field and will track you tru the woods.also your right your fila s going straight for the neck at which time iam going to kick him so hard in the belly he will need surgery.people are hurt trying to flee a biting dogs, ial be fightin like a navy seal in the desert.bigd your dog is dog aggressive one day hes going to kill someones little poddle, why would you want to let him go.Juan my dog is supper hard as well, hard enought that at the field they insist that i use a metal crate as well and use 2 collars anytime he takes the field and i understand completley.my fila will bite a sleave ,but also a butt ,a leg and a hand, and contrary to what some might think your dog loses half his advantage standing on 2 feet. a good lawyer probally can beat the first leg bite, the first face bite your dog will be pushing up daisies per court order.

[QUOTE=Brasileirokid;2167. BTW where did you get your dog from?[/QUOTE]
Hey brasileirokid, do you have a name? Well, i bought him from a breeder that owns about 52 dogs, and i think like 10 of them are filas, he breeds filas, great danes, and english mastiffs. i didnt get a pedigree with mine since his parents didnt have one. But i saw both parents and they seem like good filas, they had a good body, strong temper and the father was huge. To be honest i dont feel like i can do this since most dogs around are too young and i think Apollo is quite large and extremely aggressive. my problem is that i just bought another fila puppy that isnt even born yet and im afraid that he will be overly agressive especially since imnot with them all the time,i run a full time business if you know what i mean.

Alphadog i dont think you get what i was trying to say... you dont understand... i live in brazil... have you been here yet? most likely not... well here is full of people that dont tie their dogs, theres more dogs on the streets than people... some friendly some not... i would never put anything on my dog that wont let him protect him self, i dont use choke collar and i dont put that face mask neither... imagine you going into a dangerous place with your arms tied... you say that you would kick a dog in the stomach? do you really think a dog is gonna just sit there and let you kick him? the pain of a bite and the pulling you would be on your butt rly quick. either way... thanks for the reply

big, my name is Juan. I actually have been down to Brazil before as well...MG. Had a great time with great people.

nice, did you see some nice filas? i think here in brasil the only good dog is the fila, because if you look at rotties, shepherds and pits here in brazil theyre mostly far from standards.
-
Yes, I saw some good dogs. In Brazil it is the same as here...people make up their own idea of what the dog should look like and then they breed it that way, then it is so far from the standard that it does not resemble the breed anymore...dont get it twisted as it happens with the fila alot as well.

I have both kinds. My black (mixed) fila yes you could hand the leash off to the vet and leave. My Fila from Brasil no way in hell. I got him at 8 weeks and on the 3 hour ride home from the airport he was already attached to me and following me everywhere! I took him to the vet 2 days later from a hernia I heard is common in the breed. It was just a little bulge on his belly. When we were sitting their waiting in the waiting room he was growling at everyone that walked by me! Mind you this was an 8 week old puppy lol I was shocked. From day one he has been all business. Quite amazing. I doubt any other breed on earth can act with such confidence at 8 weeks. That's a baby lol. Ever since he has been my boy. The first day when I got him home my wife gave him a little piece of cheese and he was growling at her. After a couple of days he warmed up but def does not like women which to me is a slight red flag. Mind you he hates all strangers men and women. But just seems to want to destroy females. Its beyond me. Hes a great family member and loyal guardian of me wife kid and our dogs. My black fila loves everyone and everything hes submissive and does absolutely nothing but nudge for attention and take up all the bed lol. Hes not a true fila but loved just as much as my other two dogs.

what did they do to the hernia if anything? was it an umbilical hernia? My dog has a very slight one too, not big enough to pinch or trap so I have just ignored it. If I put my finger on it, it disappears.
-
Fj Yea it was an umbilical hernia. Its been five years since I got him so I needed to see your post to remember, but that was it. The vet said it was common in the breed.... I think he meant common in mastiffs because no one has a fila near State College Pa. And yes they ignored it. it was probably the radius of a nickle and stuck out not even a centimeter. How old is your dog? Is he a new pup with a hernia??
