Thread: Can not locate pedigree and some more Fila questions

Well Juan, I will post a copy of the Vet's weight if ya need not be in doubt and some pics real soon. He is the larger ..est...one I have seen. I hope he slows down a little on the growth, but he will hit 175 assured. Some of the Filas actually guarded the villas, as I am sure ya know, and they would not be useless at 200 lbs. Their proportions, power, higher rear end and turning on a dime, and hunting jaguar does not make them useless at anything..lol...and they sure would not be used/expected to run through the jungle for 2 hours. They would be at their master's side and a constant companion and guardian, as I am sure you are aware of also, doing the job they were best suited at, as most Filas don't like to be away from their master...but I do not need to tell you that. I would use my anology of that of a heavy weight prize fighter. He will be slower than a feather weight but will take any punch, and deliver the knock-out. That fighter just has more bulk, and conditioning to even be able to go the number of rounds he has to. Certainly not useless either. They exist now from a very specialized breeding program. I think that is bad in a way, because it seems to dilute the gene pool and not be helping in that aspect. Just looking at the average generations size in people in our country, or others....each generation sure seems to be getting taller, larger, and changing....even in those usually known to be shorter...but what use mentioning that right? It is just an analogy.

Hi. No I have not seen him in person. I simply e-mailed AIM and asked the weight(and no that was not real recent). "Multiple Best In Show winner, Thor is standing at stud at AIM Kennel."
I posted this part not in the right area a little lower down, so pit it in here where it should of went. What I had typed in my post with his picture is what is quoted. Maybe you assumed what I meant as it seems ya do? Sorry for any confusion I caused by not quoting and just saying what they said. I looked back at what I posted and did not see me refer to him as World Champion...but I did say "F.C.I. Champion" and "Best in Show"...guess I was misleading huh??????? (It seems he was just..."Multiple Best in Show".) Sorrry if ya think so. I will try to type EXACTLY what I mean( and not say AROUND 200..because that could be 180 or possibly 220?). Thanks

    hey stand firm,

living true to your name you are, lol. This conversation has been had multiple times and your point and analogy is not new either. I am not meaning to say that is has no credit and it does make sense although only in theory. When you say that humans have been getting taller and such did you mean almost 50% taller and heavier in just 10-20 years? because that is what is happening in our breed. it takes a hell of alot generations and breeding know how to get a 90lb bitch to a 175lb bitch. with your way of thinking I can take a couple of pigmys from the jungle feed them some steaks/potatoes, select only the largest and withing 5 generations i will have the new starting line up for for the NY knicks...not gonna happen.

Now the estate guardian thing... yes, they could have been slightly larger but 5 inches more at the shoulder and a full hundred pounds more than the rest of their breed? c'mon now. hunting Jaguar at that weight would also be impossible (if they did inf act hunt jaguar that is). Jaguar do not just stand there waiting to be pounced on by a hippo, they run, and they run fast and long. why do you think hunting dogs are usually pounds lighter then their show counterparts? will the extra weight help or hinder them in the hunt? Yes hunting jaguar will require a dog of substance but only enough substance that the dog could use effectively and be able to actually catch the animal as well.

I have seen people advertising "Filas" that are 32" at the shoulder and 220lbs..... I mean seriously? I call BULL SH!T. that person may have a dog and it may even have some fila in it but a fila it is not no matter what the pedigree says or what the breeder says it is.

These dogs are athletes not just a statue that waits for the bad guy to fall into it's mouth. There are much bigger dogs out there that can be just as if not more intimidating looking then a fila and the people that are looking for that can go that route. sometimes things are just perfect the way they are, if it aint broke dont fix it. now that is some good anology there.

I am not planning to show him, but I have considered one breeding before getting him "altered", but I can not do this unless I have his papers. Is there any other way I can get them? The only thing I do know is who is father is....but not his "sire" name. Any suggestions??

    Juan, your pups are beautiful.
