Can not locate pedigree and some more Fila questions

I bought Oscar from a breeder in Colorado, I emailed her in the first week to let her know how he was adjusting, she didn't email me back. I forgot to send in the health check verification, and did not remember until after the biting incident, I went on-line to email the breeder, her domaine is for sale, phone disconnected, no way to reach her to get Oscars papers. I am not planning to show him, but I have considered one breeding before getting him "altered", but I can not do this unless I have his papers. Is there any other way I can get them? The only thing I do know is who is father is....but not his "sire" name. Any suggestions??

    Juan, your pups are beautiful.

Oh my other question is how large do the males actually get, some claim to breed for max weight of 220 for males, my guy is 18 months old and only 125, he seems like he is quite large enough.

    Hi

I just took my Fila in for a bite check up. He is 5 months and 3 weeks old. He is 109 lbs and ought to hit 175-200. My other one is 11 years old and 126, so they can vary. As my older one was growing up I was quite satisfied with his weight..lol...he was hard to handle. Seems the temperament makes up for the weight

    Hi Gisell
I was just wondering if the breeder you used in Colorado had a historic farm, raised mainly horses, and on her website there were videos of the dogs in the water? If this is the same breeder I might have some info. Thanks.

  5. size

male filas average about 125-145 in size - you don't often see them over 160 although it happens sometimes
a dog close to 200 is not typical nor something to breed for as that is out of standard ( no there is no " top weight" but to carry that much weight the dog would be too tall )

Hi. Allways one. If you want to see a Fila that is HUGE and around 200 lbs that won Multiple Best in Show at the World Dog Show in 2007 in Mexico City check out this address
http://www.aimkennel.com/AIM_Filas/F...leiro_Thor.htm They DO use the F.C.I.Standard and he is HUGE! THOR of AIM..so a large Fila is out of the standard and cannot win a MAJOR event by the F.C.I.? Look at his picture and see for yourself. They are not all this big, but some are and when in good condition and health, and meet and win Best in Show???? This Thor might be a little large and too tall? but he sure is proportioned well and evidently makes the grade for the F.C.I. Champion! I love it too see ones this huge

  7. I have seen Thor in person - he is very large and in standard ( and very beautiful) - but he is also not 200 pounds. Have you seen him in person ?
A dog at show weight is usually overweight - so what may be 170 for show weight - the healthy weight is usually 10 pounds less or so

and BTW - best in show at the World show is not what he accomplished - he was best of breed for 2 of the shows that week - but he was not the World Ch. that year ( although I was rooting for him LOL)
I owned a 1/2 brother to Thor myself - also a multi champion.

    Gisselle and oscar,

First of thanks for the kind words on my pups, we think so too, lol.

You may have to put the name of the breeder for some to help you out with as the info you provided will have us picking at straws. I feel bad for you as I hear this is happening more and more often.
As far as the weight issue.....@ 125lbs and 18mths he is doing just fine. It all depends on what bloodlines he comes from, CAFIB lines should not produce anything anywhere near 220lbs while I have seen some dogs in the United States from different lines that somehow do. If you were to let us know what bloodlines he came from we could be of more use to you with this question.

Good luck with your search for your baby's pedigree.

    Standfirm,

5 mths and over 100lbs???????? that may well be the biggest I have ever seen or heard of.
I just saw the pic of thor on the link you provided...there is no way that dog is 200lbs unless after this pic was taken he put on another 40lbs or so.
The reason Filas really shouldnt get to 200lbs or anywhere near that is because these dogs were used as cattle/farm dogs and hunting dogs and a dog with that amount of weight would have been of little to no use for those purposes. Think about a bull mastiff or English mastiff running for miles in the heat of Brazil, sounds silly right? they wouldnt be able to do it and they didnt exist (somehow they do now.......research anyone?). A dog that size would have been as effective as a chihuahua sized saint Bernard in an avalanche, worthless.
