    What we feed our Fila's

I get ten lbs of lean ground beef, and then (30lbs total) either chicken, turkey, or pork. 8 cups of rice, several lbs of grean beans and yams and carrots. The only cooked food they get is 6 dozen scrambled eggs. Mix it up. Put about two cups in each freezer bag. It lasts about 2-3 weeks.

Morning dose adds some glucosmaine sulfate and vitamins. Feed three times a day.

What do you feed your dogs?

They also love yogurt and saltine crackers, a bit of ice cream and some lasagna, as well as manicotti.

  2. I use to feed eagle pack food but i didnt like how they responded to it ,didnt recover as fast as i liked from working cant say that its bad but it just didnt satisfy me enought to keep using it .I switched my bouvies to Orijen and my fila's to Innova.Orijen seems to work very good for dry, the waste is small an i think they make full use of the food.I think soon i will be trying a prey model diet. ive been reading alot about it on the web.Since i judge all food by the results Cost is not the issue since i try to use the top of the line foods .but as should be its about the dog and what works best for them.Of course i still use my joint and vitamn C suppliments along with fish oil.

Alpha do you give them a human Vitamin C supplement as I cannot find a dog specific one? Also how many MG a day? Thanks

  4. actually there are lots of suppliments that combine clucosamine and vitiminC in the correct portion and that is what i use.Jeffers or JB wholesale pet supply are some that come to mine.I jus happen to live down the street from one of the larger pet suppliers,Care A Lot an thats where i get mine they have a web site also .500mg of Glucosamine until 6 months and 1000mg after that and of course it contains the correct amount of VitaminC.But you can also use human grade as well.

I use eagle pack large breed puppy food since that is what the breeder had her on, I think its good and she seems to respond well to it. How important is it to use a joint/vit c supp when they are pups....never heard of it for puppies so just wondering what the justification was for it. thanks brother. Bryan

  7. You don't want to feed your fila puppy ANY puppy food as it is to high in protein. You should feed adult always food. I also use human vit C, fish oil and glucosimine which you can purchase at costco or sam's club (less expensive)

  8. My bad..... I meant to say you should ALWAYS feed adult food to your puppy : )

  9. I would think its important to use those suppliments on a large breed. The extra calcium an phosphorus in puppy food causes the bones to grow to fast leading to joint problems,id find an adult food low in those .25% would be the max for me as far as protein goes,id also keep the fat in check as well.Eagle Pact is good but there also others just as good if not better, you could use there adult large breed food as well.

  10. Well ive been slowly incorperating raw food into my dogs diet and i must say the difference is very noticable, especially in the energy aspect iam at 10% of there diet now and ive learned a valuable lesson dont hold on to the meat, cause a finger is meat as well! so far ive used beef ,chicken ,pork and fish. febuary i plan to have blood work done to make sure there on the right track.Yago eats meat so fast ive had to partually freeze it so as to make him chew.
