Hello all, I joined this forum to get involved with the Fila Brailero lovers such as my self. I was first introduced to this dog in the late 80's as my uncle Dezi had a Fila for protection, he was a mid level street pharmacist and the had the dog imported from Brazil to protect him and his apartment. I saw the strength and size of the dog, and was AMAZED, as Chicago is filled with BS, Pittbull terriers. This dog had a head never seen before, and the orijeza was never experienced before this. His dog was so unsocialized I only met her once, and he had to walk her after 10 pm. Needless to say the dog had a lasting impressioin on me as I have had Blue Marrow Sheltie, a red nose pitt (i love and miss my Sadie died of a cancerous nose tumor) a hot ghetto mess and head strong GSD who I could never house train after a year named Reese Cup, and last but not least my 60lb goon named Stormy who I rescued from a Cane Corso breeder who fed her in a pen with 3 other pups and they fought to get their food! Her being malnourished and giarda stunted her growth severly and she will not grow very much. her upbringing made her DOG AGGRESSIVE, and because we moved from Chicago to Orlando, I left her with my parents and they have bonded so well we decided that it would be to much to break them away, and allows my older parents to have peace of mind and something to to do as they are getting older and my Mom is retired.
So needless to say I am looking forward to getting a Fila, and learning all I can through research. I say Hello to you all and I am glad such a forum exists.

Welcome Sammy :)
Best,
Yes, Fila are Fila. Don't be to set on a really big dog. Big does not always mean better. A small Fila, say around 110lbs is more than able. The Fila temp in a smaller package still gets the job done. Chicago does have some good food. You'll get used to the junk they serve here in Florida. I am an hour or less from Orlando. Welcome to Florida and the Fila Forum.

I appreciate the advice on the size, I def understand that bigger is not always better. I would want a muscled beauty over a rolly polly anyday. As for the food sigh, I miss the food. Orlando does have options but nothing like going to Downtown Chicago, or uptown to grab a bite to eat. I do like the fact that Orlando is family oriented, and I know that my Fila will be a family dog for sure :)

Really!!! hmm I might have to make that drive! Depends on what the wife's schedule is like. If all goes well, I might be looking at some Cafib lines within the next 3 years. I had liked the Cane Corso, but to see how much the variance is, I really think it should be a wide spread effort to stablize and agree on one look for the Brasilero. I mean overall when you see a Collie you know its a collie, when you see Doberman you know its a Doberman, granted the Filas make up is of Three Dogs, the introduction of other Mastiffs to keep the lines going was and should not have been the answer. Anywho I am glad that a great place like this exists.

def. try to come. There really isnt any variance in the CAFIB filas at all...the non CAFIB dogs however...some of those dogs make great pets though.
